Favorite Student Blunders and Bloopers of 2022-23

It's that time of year again--classes are over, the pressure is off, and we can all laugh at the small stuff. Here is a collection of some of my favorite mistakes, blunders, malapropisms, or slips of the 22-23 school year. If any of my students read this, don't be embarrassed--such errors simply make me laugh and love you more. Enjoy!

In the place of honor, my absolute favorite of the year: “Martin Luther wrote the 95 Theses against the Catholic practice of selling pennants.”  😆🚩🚩🚩

"To explain my upbringing of this statement, I observed an assertion that Socrates had placed forth to Adeimantus about gods, specifically, God.”

“From these questions and comments, Socrates deducted these facts into a paragraph which I will announce as follows”

“Louisa wrote many works but had limited acknowledgment until her autobiographical Little Women was released, from which, she contracted fame.”

“Lastly (and possibly the most important), President George Washington helped the United States of America to win and finish a war. He led America to the successful victory of the Revolutionary War. After competently researching, I found that there were no major wars Trump led the United States to the victory of.”

“Constantine created the edict of Mulan.”

What creed was formulated to guard against the Arian heresy? “The Creed of Mulan.”

“Thucydides is from Athens and he is proud of his country having the biggest navel.”

“Shakespeare is aware that his audience is more the people who want to hear a good story and drink some bears with friends on a Friday night.”

“There are many historians who documate many different events throughout history.”

“Thucydides was an Athenian who used to be a naval commando.”

“Josephus was rather hard to read due to a hint of bias and pride. In a sense reading his writings on the Jewish armies or their hardships was like listening to a middle school baseball player who thinks he is better than the actual truth. This gives many people an ick.”

“Dante’s native tongue was Tusken.”

“When Martin Luther fought against this they simply excavated him from the church.”

“When Jules Verne wrote 20,000 Leagues Under the Seas in 1958, no one had made an ocean-going submarine yet.”

“This can be seen during great battles like the Peloponnesian War where the common warrior would slay his teammates to get a chance at taking Achilles’ armor.”

“The Fabian Tactic was to dig a hole and wait near the enemy so that if they wanted to attack they would fall into it. They were named this because Fabius made them.”

“Hannibal is remembered for crossing the Alps in the dead of winter with a hoard of elephants.”
